Position Overview

The Underwriter / Sales Consultant – Equine and Pet Insurance is responsible for supporting Hollard Equipage in Gauteng, driving sales, providing expert advice, and delivering exceptional service to clients and brokers. The role combines underwriting expertise, product knowledge, and sales acumen to optimise customer satisfaction and business performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset, with knowledge of Equine and Pet insurance, underwriting, and short-term insurance principles.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional sales advice and service for Equine and Pet insurance policies.

  • Enhance Hollard Equipage’s brand image through efficient, effective, and customer-oriented service.

  • Promote Hollard Equipage products across Gauteng and on social media platforms.

  • Process and input insurance policies accurately within company standards.

  • Maintain high-quality customer service, responding to queries professionally within 24 hours.

  • Execute the sales process with diligence, integrity, and product expertise.

  • Optimise allocated leads and accurately identify customer needs through effective questioning and listening.

  • Present and demonstrate product benefits aligned with customer requirements.

  • Manage objections and provide appropriate solutions to secure customer acceptance.

  • Ensure accurate interpretation of policy wordings, underwriting rules, and claims impact.

  • Apply basic financial principles in underwriting, including premiums, estimates, and endorsements.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 – with strong numeracy and literacy (English & Afrikaans).

  • Full FAIS accreditation in Short-Term Insurance is an advantage.

  • RE Qualification is an advantage.

  • Equine and Pet knowledge, including basic veterinary understanding.

  • Insurance and underwriting knowledge with ability to interpret policy wordings.

  • Computer literacy and proficiency with standard office software.

  • Fluency in English and Afrikaans.

  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask effectively.

  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing business needs.
