The Durban office is seeking a proactive Executive Housekeeper to maintain exceptional cleaning standards in line with Service Level Agreements (SLA) while leading a high-performing housekeeping team.

This role is ideal for candidates with hospitality management experience and a passion for operational excellence, client satisfaction, and team leadership.


Role Overview

The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations, ensuring compliance with hotel-specific cleaning standards, and maintaining high levels of hygiene. You will plan, manage, and monitor operational budgets, implement standard operating procedures, and lead a team of housekeeping staff to deliver exceptional service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and implement Housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures and policies.

  • Plan and monitor annual operational and CAPEX budgets for housekeeping, cleaning services, laundry services, and hotel linens.

  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping staff performance.

  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to manage housekeeping operations efficiently.

  • Encourage innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement within the housekeeping team.

  • Conduct daily inspections of facilities, equipment, and cleanliness; report repairs and improvements with actionable proposals.

  • Address client feedback and complaints regarding housekeeping and guest rooms, providing prompt solutions.

  • Develop housekeeping maintenance plans, schedules, checklists, and training programs for all areas, including guest rooms and common spaces.

  • Perform additional Head of Department (HOD) duties as needed.


Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or Hotel Operations

  • Matric / Senior Certificate

  • Advantageous: HASA Membership

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in housekeeping management

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with hotel operational systems is advantageous
