Role Overview

The Ward Hostess Manager position in Pietermaritzburg offers a challenging yet rewarding career opportunity within a high-paced food services environment. Key Responsibilities

The Ward Hostess Manager will be expected to take ownership of a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Overseeing the smooth and efficient operation of daily service production

  • Monitoring inventory and effectively communicating stock requirements to the Catering Manager

  • Ensuring that dietary guidelines are adhered to and patients or clients receive meals suited to their specific nutritional needs

  • Supervising ward hostesses and other frontline service staff, ensuring high levels of professionalism and customer service

  • Supporting the Catering Manager in reporting, compliance, and service delivery standards

  • Maintaining accurate records of service schedules, inventory, and menu delivery

  • Managing time effectively to ensure seamless service across shifts and meal periods

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must demonstrate the following qualifications and experience to be considered for the role:

  • A Matric certificate is required

  • Proven working experience in a hospitality or healthcare food services environment

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar Ward Hostess Manager or supervisory role

  • Customer service experience with a strong focus on client satisfaction

  • Solid understanding of dietary requirements and meal planning for healthcare or hospitality settings

  • Computer literacy with the ability to manage reporting and communication tools
