Role Overview
TWK Agri is looking for a dedicated Cashier to join its Trade Division at the Pietermaritzburg branch in KwaZulu-Natal. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys customer interaction, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.
The Cashier will be responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and accurate transactions while delivering excellent customer service at all times. Beyond operating the till, the successful candidate will also assist with stock control, maintain a well-organised checkout area, and contribute to an overall positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers entering the store
- Process all point-of-sale transactions, including receiving payments by cash or card
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers accurately
- Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy and sufficient change availability
- Sort, count, and wrap coins and notes as part of daily balancing duties
- Establish or verify product prices using scanners, cash registers, or calculators
- Bag, box, and wrap merchandise or prepare packages for shipment when required
- Maintain a clean and organised checkout counter to uphold hygiene and efficiency standards
- Stock shelves and mark items with appropriate prices
- Participate in stock counts and assist with general inventory management
- Keep periodic balance sheets of cash amounts and transaction volumes
- Support smooth store operations by assisting colleagues where needed
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification
- Computer literacy and ability to use point-of-sale systems
- Previous experience as a cashier in a retail environment
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to handle money accurately
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with customers
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy retail setting
- A customer-first mindset with strong attention to detail
