ABOUT FREE STATE OIL (FSOIL)
Free State Oil (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of VKB Group, is a leading soybean processor and marketer of soybean products. We are passionate about innovation, customer service, and driving growth within the agricultural value chain.
We are looking for a Junior Trader to join our Head Office in Reitz. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate or early-career professional to gain experience in the commodity trading sector.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Junior Trader will support senior traders in the buying and selling of agricultural commodities including soymeal, soybean oil, wheat bran, and maize chop. The role involves monitoring global and local market trends, assisting with trade administration, preparing performance reports, and liaising with logistics, finance, and production teams to ensure smooth contract execution.
This position offers hands-on exposure to market analysis, contract execution, and customer relationship management in a fast-paced trading environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor international and local market trends, providing timely analysis and reports.

Assist with daily trade administration and position reporting.

Support the execution of cash sales for soymeal, soybean oil, soybean hulls, wheat bran, and maize chop.

Coordinate with logistics, finance, and production to ensure efficient contract execution and delivery.

Prepare accurate sales, stock, and market performance reports.

Assist with basic trading activities and related administrative tasks under senior guidance.

Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships through effective communication.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

B.Com or BSc degree in Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or related field.

1–2 years’ experience in trading, commodity marketing, or agri-business (advantageous but not required).

Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
