
Lead Housekeeping Excellence at a Premier Cleaning Services Company
Bidvest Prestige, a leading provider in the cleaning services industry, is seeking an Executive Housekeeper for its KZN H&H Division in Durban. This permanent position offers an opportunity to lead a high-performing team, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across hotel operations in accordance with service-level agreements (SLAs).

Role Purpose
The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in line with the hotel’s specific hygiene requirements, while setting and enforcing performance standards for the housekeeping (HSK) team. The role involves operational management, compliance monitoring, team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Compliance Management
- Develop, review, update, and implement Housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Ensure all practices meet contractual and compliance requirements.
- Monitor the execution of cleaning and hygiene standards according to SLA agreements.
Budgeting and Resource Management
- Plan and monitor annual operational and CAPEX budgets for housekeeping, cleaning services, laundry services, hotel linens, mattresses, and term contracts.
- Provide assistance to other departments requiring housekeeping support.
Human Resource Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping staff performance.
- Foster teamwork, maintain motivation, and guide a full staff complement.
Performance Monitoring
- Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the housekeeping department.
- Take financial implications into account when making operational decisions.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Generate and implement creative ideas for enhanced cleaning processes.
- Explore new technologies and sustainable cleaning solutions.
Quality Control
- Conduct daily inspections of building cleanliness and equipment condition.
- Report maintenance needs and propose improvements where necessary.
Client and Guest Relations
- Respond to guest and client feedback with effective solutions.
- Maintain excellent customer service and communication standards.
Scheduling and Special Projects
- Develop a comprehensive housekeeping maintenance plan.
- Create cleaning schedules for routine and ad-hoc tasks, such as carpet shampooing, fumigation, and furniture cleaning.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma/Degree in Hospitality Management or Hotel Operations.
- Matric / Senior Certificate.
- Advantageous: HASA Membership.
- Minimum 5 years’ management-level housekeeping experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; hotel operations software is advantageous.
