Role Overview
Cape Union Mart is currently seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join its team at the Mall of the North branch in Polokwane. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who are looking to build a career in retail and thrive in a fast-paced, interactive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, and supporting the store team with day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service through effective selling techniques
- Consistently meet individual sales targets and contribute to team performance
- Assist customers with their purchasing decisions in a helpful and professional manner
- Maintain visual merchandising and ensure store presentation is always up to brand standards
- Handle all transactions efficiently, including cash, card payments, vouchers, and coupons
- Accurately scan and process outgoing items to minimize stock loss
- Support promotional campaigns and loyalty programs
- Maintain stock control through regular checks and effective replenishment practices
- Address customer queries and complaints in a respectful and timely manner
- Create a positive and motivating shopping environment for customers and staff

Minimum Requirements
- Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Up to 6 months of retail sales experience
- Willingness and ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and holidays
- Clear criminal and credit record
- Must be a South African citizen
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- At least 1 year of previous retail experience will be an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or basic computer literacy
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of fashion, outdoor gear, and current lifestyle trends
