Are you a qualified Pharmacist Assistant registered with the SAPC and seeking a hands-on pharmacy support role in Witbank? Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for a fixed-term contract at their Crescent Corner store.

Minimum Requirements
Education & Registration
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Technical Skills
- Experience working on Unisolv
- Computer literate (MS Office Suite)
- Solid numerical accuracy
- Fluent in English and a second language
Desirable Advantage
- Experience in Retail/FMCG
- Third additional language
- SAP and E-Scripting knowledge
- Exposure to family planning, complementary medicine, and chronic condition dispensing
Job Purpose
As a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant, you will work closely with the pharmacist to ensure patients’ medicine-related needs are met, accurately and safely. You’ll assist in everything from dispensing to stock control, and provide front-line customer support at the dispensary.
Key Responsibilities
Dispensary Support
- Assist with the sale and distribution of Schedule 1–5 medicines
- Support with compounding, manufacturing, and re-packaging of non-sterile medication
- Process prescriptions with pharmacist supervision
- Provide professional and legal medicine information to patients
- Ensure prescriptions are interpreted accurately and medication is packed, labelled, and dispensed correctly
System & Patient Management
- Accurately capture scripts and verify patient profiles on the system
- Merge and update customer records; manage patient notes and tracking messages
- Assist with medical aid claims, authorisation of chronic/HIV/oncology medication, and correct rejected scripts
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure FEFO (First Expiry First Out) merchandising
Customer Care & Compliance
- Provide clear instructions on the use of dispensed medication
- Advise and assist customers at the front shop, self-medication counter, and dispensary
- Educate patients about health and wellness, including family planning and chronic condition care
- Stay informed about medical aid procedures, dispensing trends, and pharmacy protocols
Inventory & Admin
- Receive and merchandise dispensary stock per SOPs
- Report stock discrepancies, shortages, and errors to the Dispensary Manager
- Participate in bi-annual stock takes
- Support asset, stock, and cash control

- Retail and FMCG knowledge

Conditions of Employment
- Registered with SAPC
- Willing and able to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Physically fit to stand for long hours in the dispensary
- Clear criminal and credit record
- Valid driver’s license preferred
