Role Overview

The Branch Admin Officer (Rotating) serves as the first point of contact in a high-performance laboratory environment. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all request forms and administrative data are accurately captured and processed within the Ampath system. You will contribute to operational efficiency, patient satisfaction, and the successful management of specimen logistics. Your attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills will be essential to maintaining the high standards Ampath is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately capture patient and specimen data into the Ampath Laboratory Information System

  • Verify completeness and correctness of request forms

  • Coordinate with laboratory and clinical teams to ensure specimen integrity and processing flow

  • Perform general administrative duties including filing, scanning, and document tracking

  • Assist in maintaining patient records and managing the flow of clinical information

  • Engage with patients and healthcare providers professionally to resolve queries

  • Monitor turnaround times for sample processing and ensure administrative alignment

  • Uphold strict confidentiality protocols and data security procedures

  • Operate within a rotating shift system to ensure consistent coverage and service delivery

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate (Essential)

  • 1–4 years of experience in data capturing, preferably in a medical, laboratory, or healthcare environment

  • Familiarity with clinical documentation and handling patient-sensitive data

  • Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans

  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise multiple administrative tasks

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
