The hotel is currently recruiting for a highly organised and professional HR Officer to support its Human Resources team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-performing hospitality environment, contributing to both operational efficiency and employee engagement.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The HR Officer will provide comprehensive HR administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to termination. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a sound understanding of HR processes and compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless delivery of HR services to employees and line managers, maintaining accurate records, and supporting HR transactions, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Administration

Serve as the first point of contact for transactional HR-related queries
-
Maintain accurate HR records for new hires, terminations, transfers, job changes, and leave tracking

Administer all HR documentation, including contracts of employment and letters throughout the employee lifecycle

Update the HR system/database with employee information and ensure compliance with audit requirements
-
Maintain, classify, and protect HR documentation and sensitive information
-
Prepare relevant documentation for payroll, ensuring accurate processing of employee changes

Coordinate and record all administrative processes related to disciplinary and grievance procedures
-
Monitor unemployment claims and substantiate documentation as needed
-
Prepare basic HR reports, such as leave liability reports
-
Maintain stock levels of HR-related consumables based on anticipated demand
Transactional HR Support
-
Troubleshoot and resolve HR transaction and data issues in collaboration with HR Consultants, Learning & Development, Recruitment, and Payroll teams

Type professional correspondence including letters and other documents
-
Handle daily HR-related calls, queries, and requests, escalating where necessary
-
Assist employees with benefits, medical aid, provident fund, student loans, and disability program applications

Support employee onboarding processes, including policy reviews and benefits enrolment
Stakeholder Engagement

Maintain regular communication with stakeholders on administrative processes and project statuses
-
Keep service providers informed of payments and documentation requirements
-
Ensure accurate and timely communication with Payroll on new hires, terminations, and employee changes
-
Liaise with medical aid and provident fund providers regarding employee movements and benefits
-
Escalate outstanding information or non-compliance issues to management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Grade 12 / Matric is essential

Diploma in Human Resources Management is required

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative role

Previous exposure to human resources administration is advantageous
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Sound knowledge of HR processes and best practices

Understanding of Labour Legislation and Conditions of Employment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office and HR systems such as PeopleSoft

Experience with IFS for purchase requisitions

Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
