Role Overview

We are looking for driven, resilient, and dynamic individuals to join our high-performing 1Life Direct Sales team as Outbound Sales Consultants. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about sales and customer service, eager to make a real difference in people’s lives by providing them with life-changing financial solutions.

As a Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for making outbound calls to potential and existing customers, understanding their needs, and offering tailored life insurance solutions. You will use your excellent communication skills, product knowledge, and persuasive ability to drive sales, exceed targets, and contribute to the company’s vision of improving South African households’ financial security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make outbound calls to existing and potential customers to promote and sell 1Life’s range of insurance products

  • Engage customers in meaningful conversations to understand their specific financial needs and offer suitable product solutions

  • Follow structured, multi-level sales scripts to guide client interactions and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements

  • Proactively identify sales opportunities through customer referrals, recommendations, and upselling to existing clients

  • Explain product features, benefits, and pricing structures clearly to ensure customer understanding

  • Close sales effectively by overcoming objections and securing customer buy-in

  • Record detailed customer information, call outcomes, and follow-up actions on the CRM system to maintain accurate client records

  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines

  • Schedule callbacks and manage follow-up interactions to enhance customer experience and conversion rates

  • Stay up to date with internal policies, industry trends, and product knowledge through ongoing training and assessments

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 or SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential)

  • Minimum 2 years of telephonic sales experience (Essential)

  • Experience in cold calling and lead generation (Advantageous)

  • Regulatory Exam 5 (RE5) (Advantageous)

  • 120 FAIS Credits (Advantageous)

  • Must be within your DOFA (Date of First Appointment) regulatory requirements

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to persuade and influence customers effectively

  • Strong understanding of sales principles and customer relationship building

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of CRM systems and telephone sales systems (Avaya experience advantageous)

  • High attention to detail, accurate data capturing, and record-keeping

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet

  • Planning, prioritisation, and time management abilities

  • Capacity to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment
