Role Overview
ANEW Hotel Hilton is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join the dynamic kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food preparation, presentation, and delivering consistently high-quality meals in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will assist with the daily preparation and cooking of food for the hotel’s restaurant, events, and functions, ensuring all dishes meet the required standards of quality, taste, and presentation.

Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)

Tertiary qualification in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation, or related field (Advantageous)

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen

Ability to perform in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen environment

Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene, safety protocols, and food storage standards

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistent food quality

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and evening shifts
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
-
Prepare, cook, and present high-quality food items, including hot meals, desserts, and pastries
-
Ensure all food preparation and presentation meet hotel standards and customer expectations
-
Assist with daily kitchen operations, including preparing ingredients, cooking meals, and plating dishes
-
Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and cooking areas
Stock Control and Inventory Management
-
Ensure all food stock is correctly packed and stored to facilitate accurate stock counts
-
Assist with daily stock checks to ensure par levels are maintained for fridges, freezers, dry stores, and consumables
-
Conduct checks on operating equipment, ensuring it is properly stored and maintained
-
Ensure all food products used are of the highest possible standard and in line with hotel policies
-
Follow proper stock rotation practices to maintain freshness and minimise waste

Report any discrepancies between stock issued and actual usage to the relevant supervisor immediately
Kitchen Standards and Hygiene

Comply with hotel health, hygiene, and safety policies at all times

Maintain strict hygiene standards in all food preparation, storage, and service areas
-
Participate in regular cleaning schedules for all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces

Adhere to food safety standards, ensuring all meals are prepared in a clean, safe environment

Follow safe food handling, storage, and disposal procedures to prevent food contamination
Teamwork and Collaboration

Work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations

Communicate effectively with team members to ensure high levels of efficiency and coordination

Assist with the training of junior kitchen staff as required
