Job Overview
ANEW Hotel Capital is currently seeking an experienced, reliable, and passionate Cook to join its busy kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality meals, desserts, and pastries in the hotel’s restaurant and function kitchen.
This role requires a self-motivated culinary professional who can thrive under pressure, maintain excellent hygiene standards, and consistently deliver delicious food that meets the hotel’s presentation and quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)

Higher Certificate or Tertiary qualification in Culinary Arts or Food Preparation (Advantageous)

At least 2 years of professional kitchen experience as a Cook or Chef

Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen environment

Knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety standards

Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high food quality standards

Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Service

Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of high-quality meals, desserts, and pastries for restaurant and function guests

Consistently ensure all food meets ANEW Hotel Capital’s presentation, taste, and quality standards
-
Undertake a varied list of daily food preparation tasks to support the smooth running of the kitchen
-
Maintain consistent portion control and presentation of all meals served
Stock Control and Inventory Management
-
Ensure all food items, ingredients, and stock are neatly packed and stored in designated areas for accurate stock counts
-
Assist in monitoring daily stock levels for fridges, freezers, dry stores, consumables, and kitchen equipment
-
Check all operating equipment regularly and ensure it is stored securely

Follow strict stock rotation policies to guarantee freshness and minimise wastage

Verify stock issued against requisitions and report any discrepancies to the relevant person immediately
Kitchen Hygiene and Compliance

Uphold the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen and storage areas

Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and hotel policies

Ensure all products received, stored, and used are of the highest possible standard

Maintain workstations, equipment, and utensils in a clean and organised manner
-
Assist in ensuring the kitchen meets all legal and company food safety requirements
Teamwork and Collaboration

Work closely with the kitchen team, including the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, to ensure seamless kitchen operations

Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate food preparation and service

Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff as required

Foster a positive, efficient, and professional work environment within the kitchen
