Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking Casual Cashiers for their Kyalami Corner store in Midrand. This role is part of a strategic talent pool initiative, designed to have a pre-screened group of skilled individuals ready for future opportunities within the company.
This is an excellent chance to gain retail experience in a dynamic environment while supporting excellent customer service and ensuring accurate transaction processing.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To provide world-class customer service at the point of sale, accurately recording all transactions in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures, while ensuring zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide professional, courteous customer service and build positive relationships with customers

Process all transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system
-
Handle all payment types including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards (e.g., Discovery Health Care, Momentum Multiply, ABSA Rewards)

Ensure cash is securely handled, placed in drop safes per SOPs, and your password/code is confidential and changed regularly

Manage merchandise exchanges and returns as authorized

Adhere to sales and promotions awareness and maintain customer turnover hourly rate

Report customer complaints and compliments to supervisors or management

Follow Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication and security principles

Monitor for suspicious activity and report immediately

Maintain accurate cash drawer operations and perform daily takings confidentially

Comply with store policies on security, safety, and cash handling
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-
Grade 12 / Matric certificate
-
At least 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
-
Computer literacy including MS Office proficiency
-
Strong numerical skills and accuracy
-
Good command of English (written and spoken)

Basic customer service experience
-
Willingness to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays

Strong knowledge of cash register operation and cash drawer management

Accurate processing of sales, refunds, and payments

ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

Proficiency in a third additional language
