ROLE OVERVIEW

mothers2mothers is recruiting three (3) Lead Data Capturers to support a USAID-funded HIV and health programme operating across Mpumalanga’s Ehlanzeni, Nkangala, and Gert Sibande districts. The initiative focuses on delivering community-based services to children living with HIV (CLHIV) aged 0–20 and their families. This role is part of a fixed-term contract from 1 July to 15 September 2025, subject to potential schedule changes.

The Lead Data Capturer will play a coordinating and supervisory role, ensuring timely and accurate data collection, entry, analysis, and reporting across multiple sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Data Capturing and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure the timely collection and accurate entry of monthly reports and other M&E forms from field sites and Data Filers

  • Implement and maintain data quality control protocols, including follow-up on missing or incorrect entries

  • Support the implementation and use of both paper-based and electronic data management tools

  • Assist in generating data reports to support strategic decision-making within programme teams

  • Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly review sessions and data analysis meetings

  • Contribute to the drafting of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders

2. District-Level Coordination

  • Oversee district-wide data capturing operations and provide technical support to data capturers

  • Ensure that data flows are efficient, secure, and aligned with M&E protocols and SOPs

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the district for M&E-related communication

  • Monitor data capturer performance, provide supportive supervision, and assist in capacity building

  • Coordinate and escalate all data-related challenges in collaboration with M&E leadership

3. Training and Supervision

  • Conduct training sessions for new or existing staff on data capturing tools and systems

  • Support the professional development of M&E personnel by offering mentorship and on-the-job guidance

  • Ensure full compliance with data governance and confidentiality standards

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification (required)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in data capturing, preferably within a health or development context

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Experience with data/statistical software, such as MS Access and Excel

  • Knowledge of filing and archiving systems is an added advantage

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure with sound judgment

  • High proficiency in English and at least one official South African language

  • Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines and adapt to shifting project priorities
