ROLE OVERVIEW
The Advertising Controller is a critical team member who will manage advertising operations, campaigns, and materials that support business growth. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented marketing professional with excellent coordination skills, a strong understanding of advertising systems, and the ability to meet strict deadlines. The Advertising Controller will be responsible for briefing, reviewing, and managing the production of press, digital, and promotional materials to ensure alignment with the SPAR corporate brand.
Working in a fast-paced FMCG environment, this position requires both strategic insight and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will collaborate with design teams, printers, internal departments, and external partners to ensure that SPAR’s marketing and advertising communications are effective, accurate, and delivered on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and control all promotional and advertising activities relevant to the department

Brief creative design work to DTP (desktop publishing) teams via the Integrator system

Populate and manage the Integrator platform accurately and efficiently

Review and approve marketing materials (leaflets, press, point-of-sale items) in collaboration with the distribution centre and agency teams

Ensure all advertising collateral is accurate before final signoff and print

Sign off required promotional materials including POS, press, digital ads, and forward them to printers

Place orders for all required advertising point-of-sale (POS) materials

Monitor and manage advertising schedules to meet strict deadlines and align with the company’s critical path analysis

Ensure SPAR’s brand image is consistent and professional across all media platforms

Generate SAP purchase order numbers and complete goods receipt processes for advertising invoices

Oversee and coordinate advertising-related administrative functions

Support event marketing and sponsorship initiatives

Execute any additional duties required by management
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education
-
A Marketing degree or diploma is essential
Experience
-
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a marketing or advertising role
-
Experience in business analysis and strategy within an FMCG or retail environment is advantageous

Familiarity with advertising systems such as Integrator and Insight is beneficial
-
Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
