Role Overview
The Cashier Development Trainer will be responsible for the facilitation and implementation of cashier training and support programs across stores within the Western Cape region. The successful candidate will identify skills gaps, conduct training assessments, maintain training records, and support stores with Point-of-Sale (POS) operations. This role reports to the Learning & Development department and requires a dynamic professional who is passionate about employee development, training methodologies, and retail systems.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct ongoing training and coaching sessions for POS and cashier staff in alignment with operational goals

Perform training needs analyses to identify skill gaps and propose training solutions

Facilitate in-store training sessions, including system demonstrations and customer interaction simulations

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs using feedback tools such as surveys, interviews, and observation

Prepare and maintain training materials, manuals, and documentation for accurate and up-to-date usage

Ensure timely submission of training registers and documentation to the Learning & Development department

Stay informed on weekly cash-up variances, customer service feedback, and shrinkage reports to tailor training efforts

Provide support on POS-related queries and serve as a liaison between head office and stores on training-related updates

Create and submit reports summarizing training progress and offering actionable recommendations

Escalate unresolved operational or training issues to senior management as required

Support the team leader in forecasting and planning future training requirements for store teams
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
-
ETDP Certificate in Facilitation
-
2–3 years of proven experience in training or facilitation within a retail environment
Advantageous:
-
1–2 years of practical experience as a cashier in a retail setting

Tertiary qualification in Education, Training and Development (Moderator, Assessor, Facilitator certifications)

Familiarity with retail POS systems, cashier operations, and SAP software
