Role Overview
As a Shop Assistant, your primary goal will be to contribute to a vibrant and customer-friendly retail environment. You will assist in achieving sales targets, offer expert product knowledge, and ensure each customer enjoys a memorable shopping experience. You will work closely with management and your teammates to maintain store standards, support promotional campaigns, and safeguard company assets.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a welcoming and helpful store atmosphere

Understand and respond to each customer’s unique shopping needs with care and product expertise

Assist customers by offering product demonstrations, price information, and guidance on features and warranties

Contribute to the achievement of store sales targets through active selling and up-selling techniques

Ensure products are properly priced, displayed, and promoted as per merchandising guidelines

Prepare and implement promotional displays, including seasonal and advertised campaigns

Maintain clean and well-organized shelves and sales floors in line with company housekeeping standards

Accurately report fast and slow-selling items to store management to optimize stock performance

Participate in stock counts, stock takes, and stock rotation to maintain accurate inventory

Minimize losses by adhering to stock control procedures and identifying shrinkage risks

Handle telephone inquiries and in-store assistance in a prompt and courteous manner

Support the store team by executing duties as assigned by supervisors and management
Qualifications and Experience

A Matric Certificate (Grade 12) is essential

Minimum 6 months of retail experience, preferably in a sales or customer-facing role

Must have own or reliable transport and be able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

A keen interest in toys, children’s products, and customer care will be advantageous
