ROLE OVERVIEW
The Lead Controller Logistics position is a pivotal role within Sasol’s Marketing & Sales Southern Africa (MSA) division, based in Sasolburg. The core responsibility is to manage all fuel deliveries within the inland Energy CDF network to ensure they are executed safely, on time, in full, and with complete and accurate documentation. This role ensures compliance with quality standards, environmental regulations, and corporate governance, while optimizing delivery operations and logistics strategy execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage day-to-day operations of logistics subordinates, including performance tracking and HR responsibilities

Oversee timely and accurate execution of fuel deliveries using both Sasol’s fleet and third-party transporters

Conduct and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with third-party logistics partners
-
Coordinate and communicate efficiently with the Logistics Command Centre (LC4)

Lead investigations into product losses or deviations and implement corrective actions
-
Ensure adherence to environmental and safety standards, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 19001

Monitor and reduce operating costs, including fleet and contractor expenses

Enforce compliance with safety, health, environmental, risk, and quality (SHERQ) management systems

Oversee daily audits, delivery tracking, and the collection of transport documentation

Handle operational disruptions including strikes, supply shortages, or system outages through contingency planning
-
Submit accurate documentation and reporting on logistics metrics and incidents
-
Identify and act on opportunities to reduce risks such as spillages, vehicle incidents, or contamination

Implement plans to improve SHE outcomes and ensure compliance with internal and external audits

Uphold governance, ensuring alignment with legal and internal standards across all logistics functions
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field

A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management

In-depth understanding of logistics interfaces, performance improvement, and inventory management

Strong business acumen, with an ability to drive innovation and cost efficiency

Demonstrated leadership ability with the capacity to manage teams and develop talent

Experience working within ISO-certified environments and understanding SHEQ protocols
