The company is seeking a Mine Planner Senior Projects to join the team at the prestigious IvanPlats Platreef Mine. This role is essential in coordinating advanced mine planning operations and aligning strategic timelines for medium- to long-term development.

Role Overview

The Senior Projects Mine Planner will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining medium- and long-term mining plans. This position is responsible for integrating geological and survey data into 3D designs, ensuring project milestones are achieved, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The planner will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders, keeping the project timeline on track and delivering solutions for any deviations.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that all design, planning, and integration activities align with Murray & Roberts Cementation’s high standards and the client’s operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with Murray & Roberts policies, Health and Safety requirements, and project-specific protocols

  • Lead all medium to long-term mine planning activities for the site

  • Develop and maintain 3D mine designs and ensure integration with operational systems

  • Align project milestones with shaft-level activities and report deviations

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure planning integrity

  • Develop and update life-of-mine (LoM) plans and communicate with M&RC and client teams

  • Incorporate geological data and survey results into planning updates

  • Identify constraints and offer practical solutions to avoid production bottlenecks

  • Monitor milestones and report variances between actual and planned progress

  • Support and guide junior planners, surveyors, and relevant team members

  • Uphold company values and participate in leadership initiatives and development

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 equivalent (Essential)

  • Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency (Essential)

  • National Diploma or Degree in Mine Engineering (Advantageous)

  • Advanced Survey or Valuation Certificate (Desirable if not degreed)

  • Knowledge in Mineral Resource Management (Advantageous)

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, MS Projects, PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical thinking, planning, and presentation skills

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of practical experience in shaft sinking and construction projects

  • At least 6 years of experience in mine planning or surveying on large-scale mining operations

  • Demonstrated expertise in 3D mine design and integration within underground metalliferous environments

  • Experience leading planning teams and interfacing across departments

  • Exposure to scenario planning, milestone tracking, and long-term mine development
