Role Overview

BKB is currently recruiting a Livestock Commission Agent to operate in the Potchefstroom, Parys, Fochville, and Vredefort areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for livestock procurement, client relationship development, and auction marketing. This is a field-based role ideal for professionals with a strong network in the livestock industry who can independently drive sales and business development. As a key representative of BKB, your professionalism, communication skills, and livestock knowledge will be essential to maintaining the company’s reputation and expanding its footprint in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procure livestock for auctions through active engagement with producers and farmers

  • Market livestock to appropriate buyers via auctions and out-of-hand transactions

  • Support auction operations through livestock classing, setup, and logistics

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business

  • Manage all necessary logistics, coordination, and administration related to livestock movements and sales

  • Collaborate with fellow colleagues at auctions and during client engagement events

  • Provide high-quality service to both sellers and buyers while promoting the BKB brand

  • Collect producer data for strategic planning and market forecasting

  • Maintain consistent growth in regional market share, sales revenue, and customer loyalty

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 with at least 3 years’ experience in a livestock marketing environment

  • A relevant Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or Marketing is advantageous

  • Proven track record in livestock procurement and auction sales

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and manage your area with limited supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong negotiation and sales abilities

  • Analytical thinker with sound problem-solving skills

  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English (bilingual fluency required)

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • High computer literacy for reporting and documentation

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently
