Role Overview

Tiger Brands is looking for a dynamic and passionate Risk Intern to join its Milling division in Bellville, Cape Town. This 12-month internship offers young professionals a unique chance to acquire valuable on-the-job experience, contribute to key safety and risk management projects, and prepare for a successful career in the safety and compliance field. Interns will work under the guidance of experienced mentors and be integrated into day-to-day business operations while supporting strategic safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering risk and safety projects aligned with organizational goals

  • Collect, analyze, and manage SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) data

  • Participate in emergency preparedness drills and contractor safety programs

  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments as part of SHE compliance

  • Review and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) and SHE protocols

  • Engage in incident investigations and support corrective action implementation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project delivery and reporting

  • Conduct Planned Job Observations (PJOs) related to risk and safety measures

  • Support training and awareness campaigns around workplace safety standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • National Diploma in Safety Management, BTech, or Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or a related discipline

  • Looking to complete P1 and P2 in a work-integrated learning environment

  • Must be a South African citizen residing in Cape Town

  • Less than one year of full-time work experience in the field of study

  • Work authorization in South Africa

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
