Role Overview
The Receiving Assistant position is central to the accurate and timely receipt of stock and goods into the company’s warehouse operations in Kempton Park. The role involves hands-on work in stock verification, quality checks, documentation, and safety compliance. As the first touchpoint in the inventory process, the Receiving Assistant must ensure that all goods are received according to internal control protocols and that discrepancies are flagged without delay.
This is a permanent position for individuals who are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a warehouse environment that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving Control

Receive, check, and verify goods delivered from suppliers and customer returns

Match incoming stock to documentation and ensure quality and colour standards are met

Count and inspect all unloading processes, flag any damaged or missing items

Bin and display stock correctly and in line with warehouse policies

Ensure items are properly labelled and stacked following company storage guidelines
Administration
-
Accurately complete all receiving-related paperwork

Maintain documentation for audits and inventory records

Support the Receiving Controller with inventory logs and reports
Warehouse Assistance

Perform general warehouse support tasks during high-demand periods

Conduct regular cleaning and tidying of work areas including floors, surfaces, and bins

Comply with hygiene and operational standards to ensure a professional workspace
SHEQ Integrated Management System
-
Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
-
Report unsafe or unhealthy working conditions to the Warehouse Supervisor
-
Participate in health and safety inspections and quality audits
-
Assist with packaging inspections and ensure labelling standards are met

Comply with company policies, safety protocols, and warehouse procedures

Propose improvements to current safety, hygiene, and quality procedures
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
-
1 year of experience in a receiving or logistics role
-
2 years of experience in an operations or warehousing environment
Technical Knowledge
-
Good understanding of receiving procedures and inventory control
-
Familiarity with ISO Standards related to warehouse and receiving processes
Skills
-
Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Excel (basic level)

Experience with SAGE Evolution or similar systems is a strong advantage

Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure
