👨🍳 Role Overview
Empact Group is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor in Tongaat who will play a pivotal role in maintaining the smooth daily operations of the kitchen. From overseeing food production to maintaining inventory and compliance, this position is ideal for a hands-on professional with a solid culinary background and management experience.
You will assist the Catering Manager, support the kitchen staff, and ensure menu consistency, cost control, and excellent service delivery across the board.
📌 Key Responsibilities

Supervise kitchen production activities to ensure consistent quality and timely food service

Maintain portion control, preparation, and food storage procedures to reduce waste and control costs

Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to the Catering Manager
-
Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety standards, including temperature checks and cleaning records
-
Assist in food preparation and contribute to basic culinary tasks according to the menu cycle
-
Complete and maintain paperwork such as wastage sheets and stock records
-
Participate in stock takes and support regular inventory audits

Support and coach team members, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork

Assist with cost analysis and in-unit financial management

Uphold high standards of service, even under pressure, and be willing to assist in other duties as needed
🎓 Qualifications and Experience

Matric/Grade 12 is essential
-
Tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts is compulsory
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or kitchen management role
-
Prior experience in healthcare catering is advantageous
-
Proficiency in stock control, ordering, and receiving goods

Must be computer literate

Solid knowledge of both fine dining and mass catering environments

Familiarity with South African food industry laws and safety regulations
