Role Overview

The Department of Cooperative Governance is seeking a strategic and results-driven professional to fill the role of Director: Corporate Secretariat and Executive Support. This is a high-level leadership position focused on managing internal governance structures, streamlining executive support functions, and ensuring alignment with parliamentary and ministerial protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate secretariat services for internal structures such as EXCO, MINEXCO, MINDG, and the Director-General’s bilateral meetings.

  • Track and manage the implementation of resolutions, ensuring regular reporting and impact evaluation.

  • Set strategic agendas aligned with departmental goals for executive meetings.

  • Conduct quality control and assurance for submissions to the Director-General and the Minister.

  • Manage e-submissions, parliamentary questions, reports, and support for committee engagements.

  • Act as the primary liaison for the coordination of interactions with Parliament and Ministerial oversight structures.


Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognized undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience at middle/senior management level in a corporate secretariat or executive support environment.

  • Completion of the Nyukela Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme (mandatory before appointment).

  • Proficiency in MS Word is essential; MS PowerPoint and MS Project are advantageous.

  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
