Job Summary
As a Project Support Officer, you will provide project management administrative support and assist in delivering small to medium-sized enhancements across the business. You will also ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with Absa Africa project policies and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management (50%)
- Evaluate business needs and contribute to the creation of business cases.
- Define, scope, and plan projects, including structure and deliverables.
- Obtain business case approval from the Project Sponsor.
- Prepare and manage project resource requirements and responsibilities.
- Oversee small project initiatives and manage teams where required.
- Ensure compliance with Absa Africa’s project management methodologies.
- Prepare accurate cost, cash flow, and resource forecasts.
- Identify project risks, escalate issues, and recommend solutions.
- Manage project deliverables and handover upon completion.
2. Staff Management (20%)
- Plan and allocate project resources in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Set project targets and oversee team performance.
- Identify training needs for project implementation.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
- Encourage team contribution and feedback to improve project outcomes.
3. PMO (Project Management Office) Support (25%)
- Assist project managers in project execution.
- Record project meeting minutes and transcribe discussions.
- Prepare and submit PMO reports within Absa’s reporting timelines.
- Process expense claims and payments for project suppliers.
- Organize project-related meetings and events.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Programme Office, including compliance checks.
- Handle various administrative duties as required.
4. Risk & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, Absa’s Operational Risk Framework, and internal policies.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.
- Experience: Prior experience in project support, project coordination, or administrative roles is advantageous.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent time management and multitasking ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of project management principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
