Job Description
The Senior Investment Analyst will support the Head of Investments in managing and analyzing the offshore group investment portfolio, as well as local funds management investments. This role includes assisting in capital allocation decision-making for both existing and future investment/divestment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Modelling, Review, and Analysis
- Build and review financial models to analyze potential transactions
- Analyze and interpret financial models from external parties
- Assess investment hurdle rates and assist in conceptualizing potential deals
- Review and conclude commercial agreements
- Model benchmarking frameworks for regulating the required investment hurdle rates

Capital Allocation
- Prepare and review the group-wide capital allocation model
- Assist in developing the Group Capital Allocation Framework
- Research and consider macroeconomic trends influencing capital allocation decisions

Investments
- Evaluate offshore and local M&A, investment, and divestment opportunities
- Consider transactions that affect Growthpoint’s funds management business

Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with external investment banks and financial advisors
- Communicate potential transactions with executives and internal teams
- Collaborate with external legal advisors

Research and Reporting
- Conduct research on relevant investment topics
- Prepare board presentations and Investment Memorandums
- Review and administer deal-related documentation
Requirements
Knowledge
- Company valuations, M&A mechanics, and financial structuring
- Accounting and financial concepts for analyzing and valuing businesses
- Capital allocation and cost of capital
- Ability to analyze and interpret market and business trends
Skills
- Commercial and financial analysis
- Evaluate investment opportunities and disposal decisions
- Monitor and analyze financial performance of investments
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and credibility
- Effective communication skills
Experience
- Minimum 8 years in Corporate Finance, Private Equity, and M&A
- Technical expertise in Corporate Finance and M&A
- Experience in reviewing commercial agreements
- Proven track record of working with professional and management teams
Education
- CA(SA) or equivalent preferred
- Minimum B. Comm (Finance) (Hons)
Liaison
- Internal: Legal, Treasury, Finance, Exco, Deal Forums, etc.
- External: Transaction counterparties, offshore management teams, investment banks, lawyers, and funders
