Job Description:

The Store Manager will be responsible for protecting and growing profitable market share within the store, ensuring alignment with the division and company strategies. This role requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to work under pressure to achieve sales goals and deliver excellent customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Management:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the store’s strategic plan in alignment with the division’s strategy and initiatives.

Grow and Protect Market Share:

  • Achieve sales targets and drive growth within the store.
  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit offerings.
  • Implement action plans to protect the market from competitor activity.
  • Regularly update and execute store business plans.

Customer Service:

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the store’s customer service strategy.
  • Ensure the effective delivery service is maintained according to company policy.
  • Develop and maintain a loyal client base (VIC and charge cards).
  • Recommend improvements to product range based on market needs.

Asset Control:

  • Manage and control shrinkage according to company policy.
  • Protect store assets, including cash, stock, and fixed assets.
  • Manage debtors within the store and monitor security requirements.
  • Ensure physical security measures are implemented and maintained.

Business Trade Licenses (Countries):

  • Ensure all relevant trade licenses are updated and renewed in a timely manner.

Human Resource Management:

  • Manage manpower requirements in line with company and division strategy.
  • Implement succession planning and career pathing within the store.
  • Ensure effective employee relations and communication through the Employee Forum.
  • Oversee staff training and development.

Maintaining Store Standards:

  • Conduct daily floor walks to ensure store standards are adhered to.
  • Monitor company standard compliance and address discrepancies.
  • Ensure housekeeping, merchandising, and store racking standards are maintained.

Stock Management:

  • Ensure stock is ordered and received according to policy.
  • Clear damaged stock and manage slow-moving stock as per company procedures.
  • Implement plans for excess and obsolete stock.

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with local safety legislation (OHSA) and maintain required checklists.
  • Appoint and manage OHSA representatives as required by law.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents as per protocol.

Expense Management:

  • Manage store expenses in line with financial models and budget guidelines.

Insurance Claims Administration:

  • Report all incidents to relevant insurers and ensure documentation is submitted for claims.

Management of CB Way:

  • Implement and maintain controls and discipline according to the CB Way practices.

Lead with Vision:

  • Set clear outcomes for the store and ensure employees understand their roles.
  • Motivate and engage employees to achieve department goals.
  • Identify and address risks that may impede store performance.

Provide Direction:

  • Develop operational plans and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating company values and motivating employees.

Drive for Results:

  • Seek continuous improvement in store performance.
  • Set and work towards stretching goals, consistently achieving desired outcomes.
  • Proactively identify barriers to performance and overcome them.

Think Strategically:

  • Recognize inconsistencies in business performance and develop contingency plans.
  • Proactively address potential problems before they escalate.

  • Identify root causes of problems and develop action plans to address them.
  • Break down complex tasks into manageable steps to implement solutions.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with at least 3 years of retail management experience or 5 years of related experience.
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license preferred.
  • Own cell phone required.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation (OHSA).
  • Strong human resource management skills.
