Position Overview

The Warehouse Controller will oversee inventory management within the warehouse, ensuring that stock is handled in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring product quality, conducting routine audits, and implementing internal control measures. The role involves collaborating with multiple teams to ensure superior customer service and adherence to warehouse standards.


Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Manage inventory and ensure cost-effective storage and movement of goods.
  • Report stock outs and work closely with the Sales, Planning, and Depot teams.
  • Conduct daily cycle counts and monthly stock counts.
  • Ensure that stock availability, rotation, and write-offs are managed effectively.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principle and adhere to stock age and product recall policies.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Conduct quality control checks upon receipt of stock and before dispatch.
  • Ensure that updated quality guidelines are displayed in the warehouse.
  • Complete the shelf-life tracker and highlight short-dated stock to Quality Control and sales.
  • Conduct routine audits, including Risk and Quality Audits, to ensure compliance with internal control measures, ISO requirements, and Operations Excellence standards.

Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor stock movements and ensure documentation complies with ICC and audit controls.
  • Manage stock write-offs, stock variances, and ensure accurate stock postings in SAP.
  • Reconcile production bookings and ensure timely daily load plans.
  • Follow up on inter-depot shipments and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Ensure that operational costs are contained and improve asset utilization.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate variance reports and conduct root cause analysis for discrepancies.
  • Compile daily stock packs and variance commentary for management review.
  • Report on missing, broken, and foreign products and coordinate with customers for follow-up.
  • Monitor stock performance and highlight high-risk incidents.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage forklift drivers and shift performance.
  • Communicate the company’s values, vision, and strategic goals to all employees.
  • Ensure operational goals and targets are communicated effectively to the warehouse team.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric (essential)
  • NQF Level 6 qualification in Logistics or equivalent (essential).

Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse/production processes.

Skills & Competencies

  • Computer literate in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to perform audits, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
