Position Overview

The Quality Manager Extrinsic will oversee the Quality Department at the Springs facility. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and will be responsible for managing quality processes and teams within the manufacturing and packaging environments. This role includes ensuring adherence to quality management systems (QMS), driving continuous improvement, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Results

  • Align with the Quality Assurance Manager to meet the company’s quality management strategic results.
  • Ensure adherence to budgeted cost targets.
  • Lead the Extrinsic Packaging Material Laboratory, Intrinsic/Central Laboratory, and Bottling Process Control teams.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and drive continuous improvement in Quality, Cellar, and Packaging environments.
  • Ensure supplier management aligns with the company’s supplier development strategy.
  • Maintain Quality Management Systems compliance and SHEQ practices (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality).
  • Ensure effective use of human capital and drive plant efficiency.

Customer & Relationship Results

  • Meet service level agreements for packaging, cellar, Centre of Excellence, Wine-buying, and NPD departments.
  • Build effective relationships with customers and suppliers to deliver on service level agreements.

Innovation and Improvement Results

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by implementing new ideas and improving work processes.
  • Regularly review performance and develop plans for improvement.
  • Foster an environment of challenging the status quo and knowledge sharing.

Leadership Results

  • Lead by example and create a sense of common purpose across the quality team.
  • Develop and implement talent management and succession plans for the team.
  • Mentor, coach, and train team members on specific tasks.
  • Manage change effectively and ensure transformation targets are met.
  • Set and review standards for manufacturing and anticipate future requirements.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification (diploma or degree) in Natural Science, Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, or Engineering.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of managerial experience within a Quality Management environment (Intrinsic & Extrinsic) in an FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, such as ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 17025, and FSSC 22000 (Food Safety).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and statistical analysis.
  • Project management and problem-solving experience.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and conceptual skills.
  • Leadership and team-building abilities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commercial and financial acumen and ability to multitask.
