Overview:
A fantastic opportunity is available for a detail-oriented and efficient Admin Clerk / Receptionist to join our team at the KZN Main Lab in Durban Central. This permanent position involves managing sample administration, providing customer service, and supporting the smooth operation of laboratory activities to meet service objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Management:
- Receive, capture, and distribute samples following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure samples are accurately logged and processed efficiently.
- Monitor progress and dispatch of specimens for processing, ensuring timely reporting and delivery.
- Customer Service & Administrative Support:
- Handle administrative queries and customer complaints, ensuring swift resolution.
- Interact with medical professionals and staff in a professional and ethical manner.
- Manage the reception area, assist clients, and provide relevant information to direct them to the right departments.
- Process cash payments from patients and ensure correct banking procedures.
- Operational Duties:
- Track sample delivery progress by couriers, ensuring specimens are received, processed, and results are returned in a timely manner.
- Identify and resolve any bottlenecks in the laboratory’s pre-analytical processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and prepare equipment in line with SOPs.
- Monitor stock levels and order additional materials as required.
- Prepare and scan patient forms into the laboratory scanning system (Oculus), resolving any scanning issues.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Report incidents, log customer complaints, and ensure actions are taken according to organizational policies.
- Adhere to Lancet Labs’ uniform and procedural protocols.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
- BSc Degree is advantageous
- Experience:
- 0–1 years of relevant working experience
