Role Purpose:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking Casual Merchandisers for their Eastgate stores. This role is essential in ensuring effective merchandising to maximize sales while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance with Dis-Chem’s operating standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandising:
- Restock merchandise promptly to ensure availability for customers.
- Ensure stock is stored and packed in the correct spaces and follows FIFO principles.
- Monitor sell-by dates, damaged stock, and low stock levels, reporting issues to management.
- Build and maintain merchandising displays, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.
Stock Management:
- Assist with counting stock and general stocktaking.
- Handle loading and off-loading of stock safely.
- Ensure storeroom stock and shop floor displays are neat and organized.
Customer Service:
- Provide friendly, professional, and helpful assistance to customers.
- Resolve customer queries, including out-of-stock issues, promptly.
Operational Support:
- Maintain the store’s physical upkeep and adhere to safety regulations.
- Flatten and dispose of unpacking boxes appropriately.
- Assist in training new staff members.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric.
- Experience:
- Essential: Up to 6 months of retail experience.
- Advantageous: At least 1 year of retail experience.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong command of the English language.
Competencies:
- Presentable and trustworthy.
- Effective communication with customers and staff.
- Strong time management skills.
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry (advantageous).
Special Conditions of Employment:

- Physically able to lift and move heavy boxes while adhering to safety standards.
- Reliable transport or proximity to the store.
- South African citizenship with clear credit and criminal records.
