Position Overview

SSK is seeking a dependable and hardworking Silo Maintenance Assistant to join the Grain Department in Swellendam. This position plays a key role in ensuring that daily maintenance, operational support, and safety standards at the silo are consistently upheld. The ideal candidate should be physically fit, safety-conscious, and eager to learn within a demanding agricultural engineering environment.

The role offers a solid opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to grow within the grain handling and agricultural engineering sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete daily maintenance tasks accurately and within the required timelines.

  • Maintain excellent quality standards while carrying out assigned duties.

  • Provide reliable service and maintain positive feedback from the direct Supervisor.

  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and assist in enforcing legal requirements.

  • Ensure proper care, use, and handling of SSK tools, materials, and assets.

  • Foster good working relationships with colleagues, other SSK divisions, and external service providers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12).

  • Relevant experience or exposure within a similar technical or maintenance environment.

  • Strong planning, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and deliver consistently in a demanding environment.

  • Willingness to work at heights and perform overtime as operational needs arise.

  • Physically fit with proof of good health and no dust allergies.
