Purpose of Job
- Ensures effective and accurate reporting to external shareholders.
- Maintains centre of excellence to manage the Group’s financial technical accounting and related SEC issues including timely and accurate technical accounting advice on critical business decisions.
- Defines Group technical accounting policies, standards and processes.
- Manage and oversight of the Reporting Practices Committee (RPC) process.
- Delivers IFRS training to the Sasol group.
- Implements new statutory reporting requirements/ IFRS standards.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
- Manage the technical accounting process in group.
- Provide effective guidance and steer to group on all technical accounting issues.
- Prepare template for Group and OME Financial Statements, ensuring that it complies with JSE and SEC requirements, IFRS and is fit-for-purpose.
- Engage with external auditors on technical accounting matters and resolve differences.
- Provide high quality IFRS training to the Sasol Group.
- Conduct Technical review of the Group and OME annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Review public disclosure documents prior to publication.
- Review and report to the Audit Committee on JSE Pro-active Monitoring
- Drive complex Group calculations and external valuations for Share-based payments and South African post retirement valuations including review of assumptions into these calculations.
- Drive efficient RPC process dealing with issues effectively and ensure that the RPC plan is monitored and adhered to
- Compile financial board papers reporting to Sasol Limited Audit Committee and Board
- Conduct research and keeps abreast of all laws and regulations affecting financial accounting and disclosure.
- Provide support to Business Units on new transactions and existing significant transactions.
- Maintain healthy relationships with Group entities, functional support functions, external auditors and external service providers.
