SPAR Lowveld, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd. is recruiting for an Assistant Store Manager to be based in Mpumalanga Province.
Job description

 

Manage the Supermarket/Floor Department, Fresh Department (Bakery, Butchery, Fresh Produce and Take Away) profitability and day to day operations. Manage buying for the store. Ensure the Supermarket and Fresh strategy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are implemented according to agreed standards to deliver on sales and profitability targets. Manage in store activities to enhance Customers’ shopping experience.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Manage and review the team and departments key performance areas:
  • Manage Efficient range and stock management
  • Management of suppliers of product and equipment
  • Ensure excellent service to customers.
  • Manage adherence to the implementation of Food Safety and OHS requirements.
  • Management and understanding of systems, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Execute plans to maintain excellent compliance and operational standards.
  • Assist Store Manager when they are on leave.
  • Managing store sales, expenses, and gross profit.
  • Manage staff schedule.
  • Managing people including industrial relations and handling staff grievances.

 

Minimum requirements

 

  • Matric.
  • A retail or business management related qualification would be advantageous.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in a store management position.
  • Passion for entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Must be assertive and excellent in decision making.
  • Efficient in building strategic relationships with staff and customers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A self-starter.
  • Numerical skills.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Be available to work irregular hours in consideration of operational demands.
  • Valid SA driver’s license.
  • Own transport.
  • Be prepared to relocate.
