Minimum Required Qualification:
  • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults).
  • Trade Certificate or Basic Artisan Training Module
  • Certificate in Planned Maintenance/Asset Management
The Appointee should:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Planned Maintenance office.
  • Sound knowledge of computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) specifically SAP PM.
  • Experience in compiling reports and presentations.
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Additional Requirements:
  • Diploma in Asset or Maintenance Management will be advantageous
Key Responsibilities:
  • Asset Management Strategy Asset Management Strategy • Assisting with medium-to-long term maintenance and asset management strategy implementation for the mine/plant. • Addressing all key elements of the Asset Management Strategy using KPI’s. • Facilitating and participating in the Asset Management assessments. Maintenance Strategy • Establishing programs to minimise unplanned downtime on critical equipment. • Using maintenance intelligence to effectively enhance maintenance planning. • Preparing and distributing maintenance plans aligned to maintenance strategies. • Conducting resource planning. • Integration of safety standards within maintenance systems.
  • Analysis & Improvement • Continually analysing maintenance history to identify recurring failure patterns. • Ensuring that preventive actions are implemented to ensure effective maintenance programs. • Making formalised recommendation to the Engineers, Foremen and GESs. • Participating in safety maintenance audits. • Assisting with maintenance cost analysis and make recommendations to change equipment that is not cost effective. • Recommending change to maintenance methods to improve cost effectiveness. • Conducting quality assurance audits of maintenance feedback information, maintenance schedules and reports to ensure alignment and reliability.
  • Planning & Scheduling • Preparing, prioritising and distributing maintenance job cards (scheduled work). • Ensuring that maintenance schedules are agreed upon by production and engineering. • Evaluating and reviewing of scheduled work impacted by unforeseen events. (Break-in work that affected approved Master Schedule) • Liaising with the stakeholders to obtain updates on progress associated with maintenance tasks and update planning if necessary. • Ensuring that capacity planning is done daily, which includes both preventative as well as corrective maintenance tasks. • Assist in planning work and measuring resources for shutdowns including scheduling of shutdown planning meetings and postmortem meetings. • Ensuring that planned shutdown activities follow pre-set targets in accordance with critical path analysis. • Supporting supervisors in creating, updating and complying with year plans. • Ensure recommended actions from Significant Incident Reports (SIRs), RCA investigations etc. are recorded in the CMMS and regular feedback provided on progress.
  • Information Management • Ensuring that all work is controlled through work orders and that all information loops are closed. • Liaising with Supervisors to confirm that all technical manuals and documents are up to date and stored in a Technical Library – preference onto CMMS i.e. DMS (Document Management System). • Advising and reporting to key stakeholders on problems in areas of responsibilities relating to maintenance tasks execution. • Preparing and distributing relevant and appropriate maintenance reports including ad hoc maintenance reports, e.g. projected and incurred planning and scheduling costs, performance, failure analysis, etc. • Refining, modifying and moulding maintenance systems changes as requested by the key stakeholders. • Interfacing maintenance and production requirements. • Coordinating Plant Maintenance Assets installed with Engineering Department within responsible Shaft/Mine or Plant by obtaining master data changes or additions. • Reviewing master data for correctness and validity and prepare and arrange for the new requirements to be uploaded appropriately to Sibanye-Stillwater Standard Codification and rules of change on a regular basis. • Working with supervisors to ensure that findings and recommendations of 3rd party maintenance reports are planned in the CMMS. • Supporting Supervisors to ensure critical spares lists are updated.
  • Material Management • Liaising with procurement on maintenance materials requirements. • Actively support the codification and bills of material initiatives. • Manage and report on emergency order numbers created and placed through the system.
  • Building a values-based organisational culture • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment such as the BeQ.

  • SHE Compliance • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. • Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: • Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Quality Management System (QMS): • Approve department’s documents. • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System.

  • People Management • Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. • Manage performance and development of reporting staff. • Ensure fair work allocation for team members. • Inspire team members towards high performance.
