Job Description Counsellor Driver

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a reliable and courteous driving of the mobile unit with safety being the top priory. The incumbent will also mobilise and provide HIV counselling and testing service to clients in the community as well as linkage to care.
Key duties and responsibilities: Counsellor Driver
- Accurate completion of paperwork, logbooks, inspection sheets and petrol slips.
- Compliance with traffic regulations.
- Report identified vehicle problems timely.
- Screen all clients for HIV, TB and STI.
- Provide HIV counselling and testing focusing on 90/90/90 strategy.
- Link all HIV reactive clients to care.
- Conduct health talks daily to all clients that are in the waiting area.
- Ensure compliance of quality assurance procedure.
- Conduct IQC (Independent Quality Control) weekly.
- Daily checklist of testing resources.
- Ensure all clients sign a consent form before testing.
- Weekly submission of activity reports to the team leader (number of people tested, linkage to care, condom distribution).
Essential qualifications, skills and experience: Counsellor Driver
- Grade 12.
- Code 10 drivers’ licence and PrDP – Professional Drivers Permit.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Counsellor Driver.
- Trained in basic HAST, HIV counselling, adherence counselling.
- Knowledge of DoH, HTS guidelines and protocol.
- Experience working as an HTS counsellor.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, including task and time management, ability to multitask, establish priorities and meet deadline, and work without supervision.
