Responsibilities Restaurant Waiter
• Daily preparation of shop opening & cleaning
• Greeting of guests at the entrance of the restaurant
• Assisting guests with seating allocation
• Handing out menus to guests
• Recommendation of meals and drinks in accordance with customer preferences
• Have an extremely good understanding of the menu and ingredients per dish
• Taking of food and drink orders as well as punching this in on the POS system
• Staying attentive to the needs of guests in the dining area and ensuring the best customer service per
table is delivered on a daily basis
• Delivering food from the kitchen to the guests in a timeous manner (speed of service is essential)
• Printing of bills and processing of bill payments (cash & card)
• Ensuring the food order is made correctly by kitchen staff and looks presentable for guests – also
ensuring that the order placed was the correct order received.
• Following health code standards with regards to the handling of food
• Performing shift duties like delivering racks of cups to the service station, rolling silverware, pre-bussing
tables, wiping tables and removing debris and more
• Ensure that tables are cleaned and presentable for the next guests
• Closing of table so on the POS system
• Processing of Take-away orders as well as Restaurant Waiter preparation thereof.
• Build rapport with customers as to ensure the best possible dining experience is delivered
• Deal with customer complaints in a professional manner along with management
Requirements Restaurant Waiter
- Grade 12 Minimum
- Minimum 2 years previous experience at an upper tier establishment
- Knowledge of cocktails and drinks would be beneficial
- Knowledge of POS systems would be beneficial
