Packaging Technical Expert (Control, Automation, Inspection and Coding)

 

 

Key purpose statement

 

  • Executing Line Integration Engineering to ensure sustainable performance
  • Day-to-day resolution of medium- and long-term stakeholder query
  • Interface with vendors & Front Line team to implement technology-based solutions

 

 

Key roles and responsibilities

 

  • Excellent at owning, managing and driving change – a change agent within Control, Automation, Inspection, Coding and cross functionally.
  • Communicating effectively by conveying information and ideas in a clear, meaningful, and timely manner, providing information to ensure understanding
  • Lead the execution of packaging value engineering and sustainability projects Drive effective Loop closure to prevent reoccurring downtime in packaging hall
  • Utilize the link between OWs and AWS to drive performance through VPO tools
  • Develop SWIs, SOPs and schedules reviewed and train Front Line Team
  • Work closely with excellent packaging technical team to develop and implement new technologies
  • Effectively drive MEO planning by utilizing short, medium and long term action plans through focused L&W
  • Collaborate with both Electrical, Control & Automation teams to identify, define, develop Integration & Automation solutions for packaging
  • Drive projects to meet quality expectations and business objectives
  • Manage multiple objectives and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Research and develop solutions for complex automation challenges in the packaging environment through ZTE support
  • Assist with front-line support of production systems (including outside of normal working hours)
  • Equipment restored to an “as new” condition, in which initial deterioration is eliminated or controlled
  • Actively participate in problem solving (5 Why reviews, Abnormality Reports and PDCA/ITF’s) to provide deep technical knowledge to ensure correct root cause identification and that suitable preventive measures are identified and implemented
  • Partake in maintenance post mortems to feedback problems, opportunities and learnings from maintenance activities
  • Where requested, provide coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams
  • Collaboration with ZTE’s, Vendor’s and Reverse Engineering Specialist to deliver KPI’s

PROFILE

 

  • Experience in Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Good knowledge in Networks: Asi-Interface, Profibus, Profinet, Device Net and Ethernet.
  • Drive knowledge in Danfoss, SEW and Simotion
  • Packaging experience highly advantageous
  • Physically fit (Physically demanding environment)
  • Ability to self-manage, with initiative and bias for action
  • Enquiring and analytical thinking ability
  • Problem solving ability
  • Great attention to detail with the ability to prioritize
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Prepared to work standby and overtime when required
  • Carry out housekeeping tasks, and apply 5S principles during the execution of duties
  • Specialized knowledge of the packaging process
  • In depth knowledge of field networks and HMI

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • N6 National Diploma with Trade Test
  • National Diploma from Technician – Electrical, Mechatronics or equivalent

Desirable Education

  • B-tech or BSc in Electrical or Equivalent

Experience

  • Over 5 years’ experience in an FMCG Environment
  • A motivated individual with high levels of resilience and the ability to operate in a high pressure
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
