About the Role
The Site Controller plays a critical role in overseeing site operations at Value Logistics by managing fleet efficiency, operational costs, and delivery planning. The incumbent ensures that all vehicles and staff are utilized effectively while maintaining high service standards and client satisfaction. This role involves close supervision of daily operations, driver performance, route planning, and administrative reporting.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fleet management, logistics planning, and staff supervision, with strong organizational and planning skills to ensure smooth site operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fleet and Vehicle Management

Maintain overall vehicle services, cleanliness, and operational readiness.

Facilitate hiring of ad-hoc vehicles as required.

Track vehicles daily and monitor vehicle workshop costs.

Conduct regular debriefing and analyze trip sheets for vehicle arrivals.
2. Debriefing and Customer Service

Ensure all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) meet Value and client standards.

Account for driver debriefing forms and manage POD returns.
-
Handle customer queries related to deliveries and PODs.
-
Review movement reports against trip sheets for accuracy.
3. Administration and Reporting
-
Compile site reports, including breakdowns, claims, and daily operations.

Maintain accurate wage records and staff schedules.

Ensure productivity of vehicles and staff aligns with client standards.

Control vehicle checklists, fuel usage (EDC), and weekly stats.

Coordinate ad-hoc vehicle hires and manage stock receiving from client factories.
4. Safety, Accidents, and Compliance

Complete all accident and incident documentation according to Value Logistics protocols.

Schedule driver training sessions with DTA to prevent damages.

Ensure timely Driver PRDP renewals to prevent legal issues or fines.

Monitor and manage driver fines and trends, taking corrective action where needed.
5. Planning and Dispatch

Plan and dispatch all local loads leaving the site.

Oversee scheduling of delivery planning and staff to maximize load utilization and productivity.

Manage vehicle scheduling, driver scheduling, and customer delivery sequences.

Ensure all stock is received and dispatched efficiently according to client requirements.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
2β3 yearsβ experience in a logistics or fleet operations environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong planning and route management skills
