About the Role
The Private Wealth Advisor plays a critical relationship and strategic advisory role within FNB’s Private Banking and Advisory division. Operating from Johannesburg, the successful candidate will manage, protect, and grow client wealth through integrated financial planning, investment structuring, fiduciary services, and global market solutions.
This position requires an experienced wealth professional with deep knowledge of market principles, strong commercial judgment, and mandatory regulatory FAIS sign-offs across key investment and risk subcategories.
Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must possess a Relevant NQF Level 7 Degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting, a completed Regulatory Examination (RE5), and a proven track record (5 to 8 years) in wealth management, financial planning, and high-net-worth client acquisition. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation is highly preferred. Mandatory FAIS sign-offs across subcategories 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.14, 1.17, 1.18, and 1.22 are required.
Portfolio Growth & Advisory Services

Deliver independent, holistic financial planning and banking solutions to high-net-worth individuals within an assigned portfolio.

Identify local and offshore fiduciary opportunities, advise on philanthropic structures, and optimize wealth creation and protection strategies.

Conduct regular formal client reviews to realign portfolios with client goals, market developments, and product availability.
Revenue Generation & Cross-Group Collaboration

Identify key growth opportunities to achieve strict business revenue, sales, and profit targets.

Build strong working relationships across FNB divisions and the broader FirstRand Group (FRG) to drive effective product cross-selling and client solutions.

Prevent operational wastage and identify continuous process improvements to manage cost parameters effectively.
Governance & Regulatory Compliance

Maintain full compliance with legislative requirements, audit mandates, National Credit Act (NCA) standards, and FAIS regulatory codes.

Ensure all advisory activities conform strictly to the Bank’s risk frameworks and commercial mandates while protecting shareholder interests.
Educational Qualifications

Relevant NQF Level 7 Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or financial management discipline.

RE5 (Regulatory Examination 5) qualification completed.
