Maintenance officer

Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Officer, based at Life Flora Hospital, reporting to Peris Naicker, Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of general building/electrical maintenance services for the Hospital infrastructure.Critical Outputs

• Responsible for all the Handyman Related inspections and repairs of the hospital facility which comprises of plumbing, painting, door locks, carpentry, curtain rails, ceiling repairs, blinds, curtain rails, etc.
• Responsible for all general maintenance enquiries relating to Patient Wards, Theatres, Doctor Consulting Rooms, and general hospital areas.
• Perform planned maintenance activities as per maintenance job cards
• Execute repairs / tasks as per job card and instructions or Ad hoc request from line Manager
• Provide line managers with relevant information as required
• Manage and supervise a team of 3 Maintenance Assistants to ensure that all job card requests are attended to on a daily basis
• Supervise the daily inspection of plumbing and general building maintenance related items

Requirements

• Grade 12 National Senior Certificate or equivalent
• Preferably N3 or equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical
• 3 years’ experience in General Hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks,
• Conversant in English.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to complete tasks timeously and accurately and be able to work under pressure.
• Eager to learn new systems and to accept work challenges.
• Adhere to LHC Policies and Procedure
• Be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Must perform standby duties
