AHRI is looking for the Research Associate in Bioinformatics and ‘Omics analysis

Job Description

The Research Associate will be responsible for organizing and performing bioinformatics and ‘Omics dataset analysis. ‘Omics datasets would include mRNA/transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and possibly other data types.

 

Overview of Duties

The  position will involve two components: 1) Working with service providers and collaborators to assemble bioinformatics and Omics databases which describe infection response; 2) Analysis of sequence and protein/metabolite level data.

 

As part of AHRI’s COVID-19 mitigation protocols and to increase the safety of our staff, this position has been classified as a high-risk position and as such applicants will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 when applying

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

1. PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Biological Science with 1-2 years of experience

2. 2 years’ experience in Bioinformatics or Omics

3. Proficiency in Python, R or other scripting languages used for bioinformatics analysis

 

Minimum Experience

1. Demonstrated record in bioinformatics and ‘Omics analysis

2. Ability to communicate and interact with collaborators and service providers

3. Work with minority variants using fastq files

4. R or Python scripting

5. Analysis of Omics datasets, including PCA and tSNE approaches

6. Ability to translate results to figures and write scientific papers
