Dynamic changes in the industry combined with an increasing portfolio and the need to enhance the South African fluorochemicals sector has necessitated Pelchem to embark on expansion and growth trajectory.

Job Profile:

To oversee all building-related activities. The incumbent will be responsible for preserving the good condition of our infrastructure and where there are gaps ensure facilities are improved, safe, and well-functioning and comply to relevant regulations.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Production Management

• Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.) and refurbishments;
• Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards;
• Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations;
• Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs;
• Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers etc.) and external contractors;
• Allocate office space according to needs;
• Handle insurance plans and service contracts;
• Keep financial and non-financial records; and
• Perform analysis and forecasting.
Cost Management
• Establishing and managing budgets, controlling expenditure and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
People Management
• Overseeing the selection, training and performance of staff;
• Ensure a positive and productive working environment; and
• Utilization and motivation of staff.
Safety Management
• Ensuring the organization complies with relevant legislation and regulations.( OHS Act, Water permit, Air permit and change management);
• Overseeing the BBS program;
• SHEQ audits of the plants; and
• Overseeing recording and investigating incidents, equipment damage and reporting of safety performance.

Job Requirements
The incumbent must have:
• Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position
• Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
• Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Good analytical/critical thinking

Qualifications and Experience:
• BSc/BA in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant Diploma
• 5 -8 years’ experience with a proven track record of delivery.
