Retail Beauty Leadership Opportunity at Dis-Chem Pharmacies
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Cosmetic Manager to join its Beacon Bay store in East London, Eastern Cape, on a permanent basis. This mid-senior role is ideal for a beauty retail professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for cosmetics, skincare, and customer engagement.
The position is responsible for managing the cosmetic and beauty departments, driving sales performance, and ensuring exceptional customer service through effective team leadership and in-store execution.
About the Role
The Cosmetic Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the cosmetic and beauty categories within the store. This includes overseeing staff deployment, managing stock availability, executing promotions, and maintaining high merchandising standards.
Working closely with the Store Manager, the role ensures that customers receive consistent, knowledgeable, and professional service while the department meets its sales, stock, and operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership and Customer Experience
The successful candidate will lead and support Cosmetic Consultants on the sales floor, ensuring that customers receive excellent and consistent service. Staff must be correctly allocated to relevant cosmetic and beauty areas to maximise expertise and conversion.
The role includes overseeing promotional activity and ensuring that monthly sales targets are achieved through effective selling and customer engagement.
Staff Management and Development
The Cosmetic Manager is responsible for supervising a team of approximately seven staff members, ensuring that the department is adequately staffed at all times.
Key responsibilities include coordinating training, encouraging ongoing feedback, supporting performance improvement, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment aligned with Dis-Chem standards.
Stock Control and Planning
The role includes managing stock control, ordering, and replenishment through effective planning in collaboration with Dis-Chem’s warehouse and internal systems.
Accurate stock management is essential to ensure product availability, minimise shrinkage, and support sales performance.
Merchandising and Visual Standards
The Cosmetic Manager must ensure that merchandising and displays are maintained to a high standard at all times. This includes cleanliness, product presentation, and adherence to Dis-Chem’s merchandising guidelines.
Up-to-date product knowledge across brands and ranges is essential to support both staff training and customer engagement.
Customer Feedback and Issue Resolution
The role includes managing customer compliments and complaints professionally and timeously. Serious or unresolved issues must be escalated to the Store Manager or Regional Cosmetic Manager in line with company procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Essential

Grade 12 / Matric

Minimum 3 years’ cosmetics or beauty experience in a retail environment

Previous supervision and/or management of a team of approximately 7 staff members

Computer literacy (MS Office)

Willingness and ability to work retail hours
