Overview
To perform housekeeping duties in the Provincial Electoral Office. This position reports to the Senior Accountant: Finance and Facilities Management.
Responsibilities/Duties
Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of offices and facility’s cleanliness, and support with sundry services to office operations ♦ Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas ♦ Clean rugs, carpets, furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers ♦ Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas ♦ Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines ♦ Dust and polish furniture and equipment ♦ Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean and tidy ♦ Polish silver accessories and metalwork such as fixtures and fittings ♦ Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, cloths and bathroom items ♦ Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary; ● Request repair services ♦ Hang draperies, and dust window blinds ♦ Prepare rooms for meetings and furniture for social or business functions ♦ Provide beverages such as tea, coffee or water as and when required ♦ Purchase or order groceries and office supplies to keep kitchens stocked, and record expenditures ♦ Run errands such as buying groceries, tea, coffee etc supplies.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be in possession of a matric/N3 or junior certificate plus 3 years relevant working experience; have basic knowledge of operational protocols in field of work; basic office administration skills; good verbal and written communication skills; good organising skills and basic computer literacy; a valid driver’s license is advantageous.

Applicants must be a South African citizen, who has not had a prominent political profile in the last 5 years. Should applicants be in possession of a foreign qualification, it must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA). All appointments are subject to a probation period of not less than 12 months and successful applicants will be required to enter into a performance contract.
