RADIOGRAPHER: MOBILE & MOVABLE DCXR UNITS (EHLANZENI DISTRICT)

AQUITY Innovations NPC, a principal Sub-Recipient of the Global Fund, is inviting applications for three (3) Radiographers to support our Mobile and Movable DCXR (Digital Chest X-Ray) Units in the Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga. This high-impact role is designed for Diagnostic Radiographers who are ready to lead clinical outreach teams, ensure radiation safety, and bring world-class screening services to communities in Mbombela, Bushbuckridge, and surrounding areas.

Role Purpose

The Radiographer serves as the clinical cornerstone of the Mobile DCXR team. You are responsible for the technical execution of high-quality chest X-rays to screen for Tuberculosis, while maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations. Beyond the technical scope, you will supervise the outreach team, manage data quality, and act as a liaison between the mobile unit and district health facilities. This role requires a blend of clinical precision, compassionate patient care, and operational leadership to ensure that the Global Fund TB project reaches its diagnostic targets.


Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Clinical Imaging & Radiation Safety

  • Patient Consent: Ensure all clients provide informed consent prior to X-ray exposure.

  • Safety Compliance: Uphold the Ionizing Radiation (for Medical Exposure) Regulations to protect both patients and staff.

  • Dose Management: Record accurate patient information regarding radiation dose, exposure factors, and clinical consumables used.

  • Technical Oversight: Maintain deep knowledge of the DCXR equipment to identify and report malfunctions or technical errors immediately.

2. Patient Care & Referral Pathways

  • Patient Support: Provide empathy and reassurance to patients who may be unwell or face language and literacy barriers.

  • Linkage to Care: Support the referral process for patients with incidental CXR findings that require medical attention but do not necessarily meet presumptive TB criteria.

  • Professional Liaison: Work closely with Radiologists to gain diagnostic and technical advice for complex cases.

3. Operational Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Strategic Planning: Participate in district and sub-district operational planning for the deployment of mobile units.

  • Supervision: Lead the outreach team on the ground to ensure seamless direct service delivery and operational efficiency.

  • Data Integrity: Verify that all collected clinical data is accurate and high-quality, supporting the project’s monitoring and evaluation goals.

  • Setup: Oversee the daily preparation and setup of the mobile medical unit at community sites.


Qualification & Experience Requirements

To be considered for one of the three vacancies in Mpumalanga, you must possess:

  • Education: A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Radiography.

  • Professional Registration: Current and valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a Radiographer.

  • Licensing: A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the Ehlanzeni District.

  • Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Package) and strong report-writing skills.

  • Advantageous: A Private Practice Number will be considered an added advantage.
