Position Overview
The Cashier will be responsible for processing customer transactions efficiently and professionally while ensuring a positive customer experience. The role includes handling cash, maintaining accurate records, assisting customers, and supporting the daily operations of the Table View store.
This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and are committed to accuracy, accountability, and excellent service.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
-
At least 6 months of cashier or till operations experience.

Computer literacy (MS Office).
-
Sound numerical skills and high attention to detail.

Excellent command of English – written and spoken.
-
Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Advantageous:
-
Fluency in a third South African language.
-
Prior experience working in Dis-Chem or FMCG retail.
-
Knowledge of customer loyalty programmes such as Discovery Health, Momentum Multiply, and eBucks.
Key Responsibilities

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service standards and policies.

Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.

Process all sales, refunds, exchanges, and payments accurately.

Manage cash flow responsibly and securely.

Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding drop safes, till security, and password usage.

Ensure accurate scanning and payment of merchandise and prescriptions.

Handle all money and transactions with the utmost confidentiality.

Recognise and report suspicious behaviour or potential fraud risks.

Stay informed about current promotions and store campaigns.
-
Maintain an organised, clean, and safe working environment.

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s 5-Star communication principles and ensure consistent service quality.
