Role Overview
The Casual Cashier will support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. Responsibilities include managing cash flow accurately, processing payments and refunds, and adhering strictly to Dis-Chem’s operating procedures to minimize errors and prevent fraud.
Key Responsibilities

Accurately process customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system.

Ensure all cash handling is secure and follow all standard operating procedures.

Provide friendly, professional, and courteous service to all customers.

Handle returns, exchanges, and loyalty programs including accelerator partners.

Report customer compliments, complaints, and suspicious activity to management.

Maintain till accuracy and reconcile daily takings.

Follow all security and safety protocols regarding money, stock, and store operations.

Comply with Dis-Chem’s 5-star customer service principles.

Maintain high levels of attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations

Computer literate (MS Office)

Strong numerical skills

Excellent command of English (written and oral)

Basic customer service knowledge

Willing to work retail hours
Advantageous:

Knowledge of a third additional language
