The Cape Town branch is now seeking a Security Guard to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and property, in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001.
Role Overview
The Security Guard will provide vigilant, professional, and effective security services within the retail environment. This includes monitoring premises, preventing theft or damage, managing access control, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety protocols in accordance with legislation and Dis-Chem procedures.
This role is ideal for a disciplined individual with prior retail or security experience, strong observation skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure optimal visibility and deter criminal activities.

Monitor and control access to the store, documenting all visitor entries.

Investigate and report signs of damage, unlawful entry, or suspicious behaviour to management promptly.

Maintain visibility to discourage theft, vandalism, or unauthorized behaviour.

Conduct personnel and vehicle searches when necessary.

Monitor alarm systems, CCTV cameras, and other security equipment.

Respond promptly to emergencies, including contacting police, fire services, or internal emergency teams.

Assist during evacuations, ensuring orderly and safe movement of staff and customers.

Enforce store policies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and unusual occurrences.

Offer guidance and safety advice to staff and customers when required.

Perform additional administrative duties such as receiving calls, running errands, or assisting with internal security tasks.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
-
Grade C accreditation with the PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority)

Minimum 3 years exposure in retail or similar environments (shopping malls, warehouses)

Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
Advantageous:

At least 1 year specific experience in a similar security role

Knowledge of a 3rd language
